Mancha Blanca is the southern neighbor of Tinajo and is best known for the chapel of the Virgen de los Dolores. It is said that the identically named Holy Virgin was able to stop several times the lava during the volcanic eruptions (1730-1736), just before the lava was about to pour over the village. The cross near the chapel marks the spot where the lava came to a halt.
Today, every year on the 15th of September, a large procession (Romeria) takes place in Lanzarote. Thousands of Romeros, flock then from all corners of the island to Mancha Blanca, to honor the Virgin of Dolores.
