Puerto del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen is located south west of Arrecife and is not far away from the airport of the island of Lanzarote. Puerto del Carmen is also the oldest tourist resort in the Canary Island.

At the beach in Playa Blanca, begins the about 8 km long Avenida de las Playas, along which lies the "new" Puerto del Carmen, with its many apartments and hotel complexes, Supermercados, souvenir shops, bars, disco-pups and various restaurants. Here, as in all other popular tourist destinations, you will get everything you need for a Lanzarote holiday. It is only about 5 minutes to the centre of Puerto del Carmen, from our Villa la Vega and the apartments in Tias.

The particular advantages of Puerto del Carmen, are the long sand beaches, Playa Blanca, Playa Pocillos and Playa de Matagorda. Here it is much more sunny and wind sheltered than in other places in Lanzarote.

The charming old town centre of Puerto del Carmen (La Tiñosa), invites you for a walk around the old harbor. Here are many colorful fishing boats bobbing in the water and here is the landing place of the numerous pleasure steamers as well.

In the nearby bars and restaurants, you can watch the locals compete during their Bola competitions.

A special highlight is the extension of the Avenida de las Playas. If you like sporting activities you can reach, along the sea, the island capital Arrecife on foot or by bicycle.
