Approximately two kilometers separates La Graciosa (the Gracious), from its bigger sister island Lanzarote. And yet the approximately 30 minute crossing from Órzola to La Graciosa can be very rough. Therefore, who tends to get seasickness should wait for calmer sea conditions.
La Graciosa has a size of 27 square kilometers and is characterized by four volcanoes. The highest volcano Pedro Barbá, has a height of 266 metros.
The approximately 600 residents have settled mainly in the port of La Caleta del Sebo and in the village of Pedro Barba. Many residents work in Lanzarote, or live from fishing.
During winter the island is very quiet and seems abandoned. However, during summer it is a popular destination of the Lazaroteños.
Its very easy to explore La Graciosa in one day. On foot or by bicycle, (you can rent a bicycle) you can get to the popular white sand beaches of La Graciosa.
